Late Summer
shaunride9-8is the most wonderful time of the year, no matter what any old holiday music may claim! It's warm and cool. The days are still relatively long. There's SO MUCH to do! The only problem I've ever had with autumn is dreading its eventual end - but this year, happily, I'm not feeling that.
Maybe it's because I'm outside A LOT, thanks to working at the cave. Maybe I've finally grown comfortable with the fact that autumn can last quite a while here in Utah Valley. It certainly helps that the leaves have barely begun to change. Anyway, here's a very quick report of yesterday's ride in the Mill Canyon area:
Started at Tibble Fork (my 2nd favorite trail, after the challenging, rocky Mill Canyon itself), Little Deer Creek, Ridge Trail, Pine Hollow, Mud Flats, then Tibble Fork again before heading back.
Sunlit meadows would fly by through stands of straight-trunked aspens. Small streams would appear and I'd splash down and through, then up the far bank, steep sections with rocks and roots let me climb while shifting my weight back and forth over the bike.
I really just needed a helmet cam - if you ride, you'll understand, if not...just get outside and do whatever it is you love with this time of year.
