Red Lights

Published by Shaun at 4:50 pm under News, Views & Insights

Today on my way to lunch with my buddy Olin, I hit almost every light red.

That’s how I sometimes feel these days.

But at one point, rather than being annoyed at all the stop and go, I just looked at that red light and felt happy because I knew it would turn green any second.

That’s how I sometimes feel these days.

can there be a “like” button on your posts? Maybe stopping at red lights is kind of like stopping to smell the roses… except you don’t have a choice (without serious consequences).

I used to pull up to a yellow light and bemoan the fact, assuming it represented some greater power letting me know that I shouldn’t get too excited about life. It seemed the message was, “You are going to slow down whether you like it or not.”

Now, like Diane said, I use those yellow and red lights as a meditative moment or two. I exercise trust that I am being protected and guided in the perfectly timed path.

Just for fun, I started adding words/characteristics to each traffic light I regularly pass through. For example, the traffic light into the shopping center I enjoy beams with the words, “temperance and generosity.” Makes it more interesting to drive around my little town.

I love the depth of this post Shaun, and how it reflects so many facets of your soul in so few words. :)
